This econometric study covers the latent demand outlook for consumer non-riding dual-stage snow throwers and snow blowers excluding attachment type across the states, union territories and cities of India. Latent demand (in millions of U.S. dollars), or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.) estimates are given across over 5,100 cities in India. For each city in question, the percent share the city is of it's state or union territory and of India as a whole is reported. These comparative benchmarks allow the reader to quickly gauge a city vis-a-vis others. This statistical approach can prove very useful to distribution and/or sales force strategies. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each state or union territory and city, latent demand estimates are created for consumer non-riding dual-stage snow throwers and snow blowers excluding attachment type. This report does not discuss the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor specific details at the product level. The study also does not consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. The study, therefore, is strategic in nature, taking an aggregate and long-run view, irrespective of the players or products involved.

Self Service Your Lawn Mower and Save Money

!±8± Self Service Your Lawn Mower and Save Money

Around where I live the small engine retail and service stores charge an hour to work on lawn mowers and ride-on tractors. Most people can do the necessary basic service themselves and keep their mower running smoothly for years.

We all do it, we get to the end of the grass cutting season, shove the mower or tractor to the back of the shed and forget about it till next Spring. Don't do that this year, it will cost you money and time to get it back in working order.

What you'll need: Digital camera, SAE30 oil, wire brush, spray can of black enamel paint, heavy duty gloves, container for used oil, replacement spark plug, (just in case), face mask and cleaning rags.

Drain the fuel tank and let the engine burn the last of it from the carburetor and fuel lines. The fuel in the tanks will partially evaporate over winter leaving a residue, particularly fuels blended with ethanol which will leave a gooey mess, that's a real pain to clean out especially from the fine jets in the carburetor.

Before doing any further work on your machine, disconnect the spark plug lead. Although electrical interlocks should prevent the engine accidentally starting it's better to be safe than sorry.

Drain out the old engine oil. For most lawn mowers the drain plug is underneath in the mower deck. For others and lawn tractors the drain plug is at the base of, and on the side of the engine. Be sure to collect the oil in a container to dispose of correctly later, don't let the oil drain onto the ground.  Replace the oil drain plug. Leave the dipstick out to remind you there is no oil in the engine.

Clean dirt and grass off the mower, a small amount of debris in the engine will cause it to seize. Clean dirt from the engine cooling fins, you may have a cover to remove to do this. If this is the first time you are doing your own maintenance, have a digital camera handy to take photos as you work to ensure parts go back correctly. Take as many pictures as you need, use the zoom for close-ups, so as you put things back in place you won't waste any time figuring things out. Don't rely on your memory it will let you down!

Clean the deck, for lawn mowers tip the machine on its side, carburetor side up. Use a block of wood to wedge the blade so that it cannot move. Put on a pair of heavy duty garden gloves before removing the blade. Clean debris from the underside of the deck, wire brush and spray with black enamel paint from an auto parts dealer, always use a mask for this job. Painting the underside of the deck will prolong its life. Have a professional sharpen and balance the blade before replacing it. Then turn your mower upright.

Take out the spark plug, wire brush it clean and check the gap, 0.30" for most. If it's worn replace it with new. Take the plug to a dealer to ensure you get the correct replacement. Clean and replace carburetor air filter. Fill the engine with SAE30 oil, check manual for quantity required making sure not to over fill, then use the dipstick to check the level, let stand for a few minutes then re-check.  Wipe the dipstick to avoid an incorrect reading.

Check the condition of the starter pull cord. If damaged or frayed take the mower to a service dealer for a replacement pull cord. Replacing the cord can be difficult especially if the recoil spring is taken out of its housing and it's not a task for a beginner. Lubricate the cables and if it's self-propelled check the belts for wear and damage and replace if needed.

Wipe the machine down and store ready for next Spring and you've just saved yourself 0 or more.

MONETIZING TIPS: Offer this simple end or beginning of season service to family, friends, neighbors, church members and seniors clubs. Make up a poster on your PC with eye catching photos from the web. If you have a vehicle to transport machines so much the better. You only need a space in your garage or garden shed and a few simple tools to get started on a nice money-making business. Your camera can be a big help by ensuring you can see exactly how things came apart until you feel confident.

Dixie Chopper Snow Thrower

This video shows a Dixie Chopper 27 hp Commercial Riding Mower with a 48" snow thrower attached to the front. The driveway is 125' long, there's approx 10" of heavy wet snow on the ground, filmed in Massachusetts. The mower deck was removed in about 30 Minutes, no tire chains were needed, however, Some counter weights were added to the rear of the mower. The mower is wider than the snow thrower. This was only a slight issue once when the user cleared a path around the back of the house and tried to back up where the snow was around 2'deep. This report was created for global strategic planners who cannot be content with traditional methods of segmenting world markets. With the advent of a "borderless world", cities become a more important criteria in prioritizing markets, as opposed to regions, continents, or countries. This report covers the top 2000 cities in over 200 countries. It does so by reporting the estimated market size (in terms of latent demand) for each major city of the world. It then ranks these cities and reports them in terms of their size as a percent of the country where they are located, their geographic region (e.g. Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, North America, Latin America), and the total world market.

In performing various economic analyses for its clients, I have been occasionally asked to investigate the market potential for various products and services across cities. The purpose of the studies is to understand the density of demand within a country and the extent to which a city might be used as a point of distribution within its region. From an economic perspective, however, a city does not represent a population within rigid geographical boundaries. To an economist or strategic planner, a city represents an area of dominant influence over markets in adjacent areas. This influence varies from one industry to another, but also from one period of time to another.

In what follows, I summarize the economic potential for the world's major cities for "consumer non-riding dual-stage snow throwers and snow blowers excluding attachment type" for the year 2011. The goal of this report is to report my findings on the real economic potential, or what an economist calls the latent demand, represented by a city when defined as an area of dominant influence. The reader needs to realize that latent demand may or may not represent real sales.

The Fastest Way to Start Your Lawn Mower When It's Been Sitting Idle Since Last Fall

!±8± The Fastest Way to Start Your Lawn Mower When It's Been Sitting Idle Since Last Fall

If you're like most home owners who mow their own lawns, you probably find that the first time you go to start your lawn mower in the spring, it is a lot harder to start than it is for the rest of the lawn mowing season. Maybe you get frustrated with it, forget that you aren't a teenager any more, and throw your back out giving the pull-start a furious yank. Maybe you then think to yourself  "I wish I had one of those electric start lawn mowers". If you have an electric-start lawn mower, maybe you are thinking "man, this thing has electric start and it still sounds dead. Thank god I don't have one of those manual start models."

By the time you have been trying to start your lawn mower for a few minutes, you have probably tried some with the choke on, and then maybe your "helpful" neighbor came by and told you that you probably flooded the engine. So maybe you try starting it a few times with the throttle opened up a bit and the choke off. If you have a manual-start machine, you may be contemplating your impending chiropractic bill, and wondering whether hiring the neighbor's kid to mow your lawn might not be such a bad idea after all.

So why can it be so hard to start an engine that has been sitting idle for six months? If you examined the spark plug under a microscope, you might figure out the problem. If you look at the tip of the spark plug with your naked eye, it will probably look fine, but if you replace that plug with a brand new clean dry sparkplug, you would probably find that your lawn mower will likely start in seconds.

The key to the mystery lies in something at the microscopic level the happens on the surface of the ceramic insulator of a spark plug over time in a machine that is stored outdoors. As the temperature and the relative humidity cycles, day after day, over time, micro-droplets condense on and re-evaporate from the surface of the ceramic insulator of your spark plug. Each time these micro-droplets form, they rearrange the tiny carbon particles that were deposited on your spark plug the last time you ran your engine. The growing of the droplets as they form pushes those particles together into conductive pathways that wind up providing an alternate path for electrical current (across the surface of the ceramic insulator instead of across the spark gap) when you try to start your lawn mower.

The carbon particles don't quite short things out, but they provide a path whose electrical resistance is low enough so that there is no spark, or the spark has so little energy that it won't ignite the charge in the cylinder. Once the engine starts, the heat of the burns within the calendar clears up this problem in a few minutes, so when you go to start the engine again the next week, it starts fine.

One easy solution for this initial-start problem is to replace the spark plug. Of course, if you want a cheaper solution that doesn't require a trip to the store, I have one for you, and it comes in the form of a hot flame. A propane torch works best, but if you don't happen to have one handy, a butane lighter or a gas stove burner will do. You see, there is a reason that the ceramic insulator surrounding the center electrode of your spark plug is made of the particular material it is made of. The surface properties of that material actually catalyze the burning off of carbon deposits when the ceramic gets hot enough. Of course, when your lawn mower has not yet started, nothing has yet gotten it "hot enough".

To solve this problem, remove the spark plug from your lawn mower, and get a hot clean flame ready (either a propane torch or a butane lighter, or gas burner on a stove). Holding on to the end of the spark plug that usually connects to the spark plug wire, stick the other end (the spark end) of the spark plug into the flame for a few seconds while rotating the spark plug a few times, heating the center electrode and the surrounding ceramic. It only takes a few seconds. After you take the spark plug out of the flame, take a look at the ceramic material surrounding the center electrode.

You should notice that the ceramic insulator surrounding the center electrode of your spark plug is now bright white, where before it might have been off-white or gray. Now your spark plug is as good as new. Put it back in your lawn mower, and enjoy how it roars quickly to life!

Review Of Snow Blowers

!±8± Review Of Snow Blowers

Today, snowblowers or snow throwers are replacing the good old shovel also in private homes. This time of year it comes in handy for many people, but some consider it too big of an investment. I would like to take a look at some different types of snowblowers in order to highlight the variety that is actually available. There are very reasonable choices to be made whether you only want to clear your front lawn faster or have fields of snow to uncover!

Engine types

Snowblowers can be electric, or run on diesel or gasoline. The power is used to get the snow into the machine and to throw it out (hence 'snow thrower'). This also makes up the difference between snowblowers and regular snow plows.

Single-Stage and Dual-Stage Snowblowers

Snowblowers are often divided into single-stage and dual-stage snowblowers. Single-stage snowblowers are often smaller, and has its name from the fact that both snow intake and output is done by a single impeller (a type of rotor).

Usually the single-stage snowblower can only cover a small and shallow area, but it can also be effective for larger jobs, as seen in snowblower attachments for trains. The high-speed all-in-one mechanism of the single-stage blower is effective in such a situation.

Dual-stage snowblowers are nevertheless more common than single-stage ones. The first of the two stages referred to in the name is the breaking up of the snow after intake. Augers (rotating helical flightings) take care of this job, as well as moving the snow to the impeller. In the second stage the impeller then blows the snow out of the discharge chute. The separation into two stages thus makes it possible to clear larger areas of snow - depending of course on the size of the snowblower itself.

Types of Snowblowers

Snowblowers come in a great variety of sizes, shapes and types. First of all, engine power varies from a few horsepower machines for home use to a thousand horsepower diesel engines. However, the engine size is usually chosen so as to be able to manage the jobs that the specific type of snowblower will bump into, so let us rather look at these types of snowblowers.

I want to mention three types of snowblowers. The first is the walk behind snowblower. The name says it all, really, and this is perhaps the most common snowblower for home use. Both single-stage and dual-stage walk behind snowblowers exist, and this can be a reasonable yet very effective choice.

Then there is the riding snowblower, which is similar to riding lawn mowers. This is a dedicated snowblower vehicle, yet still relatively small in size. They come in a variety of sizes and shapes, and for use on larger areas this is the natural choice.

Last, and definitively not least, is the snowblower attachment for use on tractor and tractor-like vehicles. These are some of the largest snowblowers, yet still often represent a very reasonable choice, because it is an attachment and not a dedicated vehicle. If you need to clear large areas, and own or plan to purchase a tractor or other vehicle that will support a snowblower attachment, this will probably be the way to go.

There is thus reasonable choices to be made in all the categories of snowblowers, and thinking through your needs beforehand can help in picking the right one for you!
